It seems like the older we get, the more we look back and regret all the time we wasted. We start to see how precious time is, and we want do good things with the time we have. There are a few things most of us have in common to save time, and this article will talk about how to make them work for you.

Hands down, the biggest time consumer is watching TV. Most of what we watch is just stuff that fills our senses with noise, and there are so many better things to do than flip through channels. Add up the time you waste watching TV and you will see how much of it can be used doing things that are productive and rewarding.

Another thing I like to do is to record my favorite shows and watch them when I want. This way I don’t have to be home at a certain time to see them. Not to mention how great it is to be able to skip the commercials. Once I discovered how much skipping a few minutes here and there added up, I had much more time and my productivity increased.

Wasting time in waiting rooms is another huge time consuming activity that can be better used. If you know that you will be sitting for a considerable amount of time, bring some homework or your laptop. This way you can work on something productive while you wait.

I also learned that by getting news and information online and downloading the podcasts and listening to them in the car also saved me time. The car radio is a huge time killer, and waiting through commercials to hear news can be better used.

Stay off your phone when you are driving as well. It is dangerous and you should always have your hands free.

These tricks have served me well in freeing up my time, and you will find ones that work just for you. Just take time to think about how you can make better use of the empty time in your day and you be surprised at how much you can save.

Often people loose sleep because they wake up in the middle of the night. Pay attention if this happens to you a lot. You may want to see a doctor to determine if there is a medical reason you are not sleeping through the night. It may be caused by sleep apnea or some other health-related source.

Studying for a test is never easy when there are lots of distractions around. Most people would rather be doing anything else than learning what they consider a bunch of boring facts.

This often means they procrastinate until the last minute and then try to cram for the upcoming test. You may get lucky once in a while doing this but there are better ways to study for long term retention.

It’s not complicated. Just set aside a bit of time to study every day. Try doing it right after class. Sit down and reread your notes. Use just 15 minutes a day to review your material and you will see results.

Even if your next test isn’t for a few weeks, the incremental approach to studying can help a lot. If you study each day, you will be already familiar with the material when it comes to review it before the test. This will cut down on the amount of straight memorization you may need to do. This approach takes discipline, but it is effective and helps with comprehension.

To start you off on the road to managing your time better write down everything you currently need to do. For some people this list will be huge, for others a little smaller. Spend a few minutes doing this and you will not miss anything from your list.

Now it is time to prioritise your tasks in order of importance. If you have anything to do that is time sensitive this should go to the top of the list. Anything else can be fitted in later on. Once you have written your list take a few minutes to study it and make sure you haven’t missed anything out.

As soon as you have created your priority list you will need to plan out when you can complete each tasks. Think about your normal routine and fit in tasks around your usual daily activities. It is at this point where most people realize that they can get more done than they actually think. Think about your day in 30 minute slots and plan your time appropriately. Don’t leave long tasks until the end of the day as you will probably not be too motivated to do them.

Next think about whether or not you could successfully delegate any tasks to other people. This can be easier for work related tasks, especially if you have staff who work under you. Being able to delegate tasks can make all the difference to your time management, so think about if this can be done.

It is also wise to ensure that you are allowing yourself the right amount of time to get things done. Don’t give yourself an hour to complete a 3 hour task - this is not good management of time. Instead think in practical terms of how long certain things will take and plan accordingly. Try to give yourself more time than you need at first and you will benefit from this.

During the first week or two you might not feel as though you are really getting anywhere. If this is the case do not worry. It can take time to really get to grips with a new routine, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Stick to your plan and you will soon find that things become a lot easier. Tasks will be completed on time and you are not worrying about things you need to get done.

In just a moment, I will be telling you a secret about yourself. First, let me explain what I am going to share. I want to offer you a proper explanation because this article may be a turning point for your life. It does not matter where you are at or who you are.

Picture a professional athlete wanting to win the game, but is only willing to play with 50% of his capability. Imagine a mother willing to take care of her baby only 50% of the time. Will they be successful? Will anyone be successful if they put only 50% effort toward reaching their goals? Of course not.

Most of us realize that we need to put 100% effort into anything if we want to succeed. Unfortunately, we usually only put 40% to 60% effort towards reaching our true potential. Is this you? Take a look at an area of your life you want to change or improve. If you are not putting 100% effort into making the change, you are not getting the results you desire.

People come to me and tell me they want more love, health, money, etc. The explanation I offer them is they are not putting forth a full effort to make it happen.

This is not just about being busy or working harder. I mean you are really putting 100% effort in ALL you do. If you will apply 100% into any project, you will succeed.

What you will find is that obstacles, limitations, and barriers, will simply dissolve right before your eyes. The Universe will conspire to assist you. The only way you can undergo this “breakthrough” is by playing full out.

While traveling the road to wealth, most great people have uncovered the secret to achieving great things has nothing to do with intelligence, strength, or wealth. The main component necessary for upgrading your life to the next level is having the courage to get done what you can, with what you have to work with at the time.

I realize some people reading this may say, “I’m too busy or too tired to give any more than what I’m doing.” The truth is, you’re not even close to being maxed out.

Feeling tired is mostly a state of mind and most people are just doing “busy” work. Of course, they are busy doing a bunch of things, but nothing that is moving them forward towards reaching their desired results.

Create a “Things Not To Do” list. These are the things that aren’t moving helping you to achieve your desired results. Only stay busy doing the things that will truly give you greater success in the long run and you will succeed.

Many of the great inventors, athletes, business people, entertainers, and more discovered their success was in the next step. Continue going for your dreams while only focusing on what you want and success will be inevitable.

You don’t have to use all of them, but certainly some of them will make you more productive. Whether it’s Outlook, Google calendar, your PDA, or a paper calendar and your beloved pencil, develop a system of staying organized and use it.

#7 Take time away. This may sound conflicting; however, in order to remain prolific throughout your work time you have to play some too. If you don’t, burnout will definitely ensue and you’ll move at a slower speed than a two year old that’s been ordered to swallow their vegetables. Take time to play and you’ll feel refreshed and keyed up, ready to go back to work!

Time management isn’t complicated but it does take preperation, some staying power and certainly resilience. You’re an entrepreneur so you definitely have what it takes to get it done. Craft a strategy, use your resources and make it happen.
