How To Create Goals That Will Lead To Success

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

What is the importance of these goals? These goals guide us to where we want to go which is why we need them. Without goals, we are basically wandering around in the darkness hoping that we reach the right place. A motivational tool that gives us the right boost of energy to work towards them is another purpose of goals.

If you ask any motivational speaker, one of the key points they will tell you to achieve success is to write down your goals. But wait, there’s more to this story. Just writing them down doesn’t give you that energy boost that you need to achieve success but there is a secret to goal setting.

The first thing you need to do is start dreaming again and these dreams doesn’t refer to the ones that you have when you sleep at night but rather the dreams you had when you were kids like living up in a mansion when you grow up. If you dream big but only reach half way, then that’s still half way farther than if you didn’t dream at all so you shouldn’t be afraid to dream big.

Ok, so let’s talk about your mansion. Writing down a mansion in your Goals list isn’t enough, is it? You also need to write down the details. Determine what kind of architecture it would be. Is a fairy tale type castle what you have in mind? Or maybe you’re thinking about an Italian Villa. How many bedrooms should it have? Having an indoor pool is a great idea as well.

In order for you to picture them clearly in your mind, you need to find images of some of the things that you want and this is another secret to goal setting. Unlike if you were just thinking about the word ‘mansion,’ doing this will give your goals a sense of realism. When you find pictures of indoor swimming pools or pictures of Italian Villas or anything that you desire, then you can try imagining yourself there.

If you are a car guy, then it’s likely you have a few cars on your list. Right now, you might drive a BMW, but that’s not enough. If you want to hit it big you have to dream big so add more BMWs, Porches, and even Ferraris if you want. The colors that you want and all the options that each car provides is what you need to know about. It will seem much more real if you get down with all the details.

Even though you can start with making a list of your goals, you still need to go farther. Getting into the details is a must. So is finding images. Try to imagine that you already own those items. Doing this will only help you in whatever venture you choose to go with.

How to Make Better Use of your House Space.

Friday, April 1st, 2011

If you are looking for the perfect home organization plan, consider starting small and working your way up to the larger projects. A few simple tips will get you on the way to home organization at its finest.

Tip 1: The organizing of the house starts in the kitchen

The cutlery and utensil drawer should at the very least have a plastic tray in there to help organize and protect everything. These liners cost no more than ten dollars and will help keep your utensils, cutlery, and even your tools more organized and in much better condition

Tip 2: You are going to need more shelves. The best way to give yourself this extra storage and space is to install shelves yourself. These are inexpensive and most hardware stores sell them in prefabricated packs so that all you need to do is get your 18v cordless drill (a necessity in every home) There is nearly always somewhere to place the shelves in the house.

Shelves provide the added bonus of giving you somewhere to place the extra items that do not fit. Any organization task is not complete until you are left with a whole lot of random items, some of which you can never bring yourself to throw out. It’s OK - this is normal

Tip 3: Organize your books and stop keeping that which you are not using or reading or referencing. Space is a commodity so use it wisely.

DVD towers are a great addition to any loungeroom and the range of styles and colors make it easy to keep your collection organized and still look great.

Tip 4: You always need space, not just for storage so think wisely about what you keep and what you don’t.

When storing away your seasonal clothes, don’t just hang them in the closet until next year. Instead, purchase a large plastic lidded storage tub and place your seasonal clothes neatly inside. It will save a lot of space. Place the storage tub in the floor of your closet and label the tub according to the clothing inside.

Tip 5: Using your power tools to create more space is essential, as is owning your own 18v cordless drill.

Are you always losing pens and/or pencils? If so, consider using a coffee mug for neat and easy storage of your pens and/or pencils. Everyone has a coffee mug and this is a much more whimsy way of storing your writing utensils rather than a typical pen/pencil holder.

Tip 6: be smart about your organization and do it for what is going to work in your life, not the average person - as most tip books are written for.

You need to throw away old magazine and newspapers, as well as give to charity any books you no longer read. They take up a lot of space!

Tip 7: space and your organized home

Keep your legal documents together, organized and in a safe place - preferably somewhere under lock and key

Tip 8:

If you have any items that you no longer want, consider donating them to a local non-profit agency. This will save space and you will be doing a good deed.

Tip 9:

In order to avoid clutter, it may be necessary to throw away certain types of mail. This may include credit card offers, but don’t just throw them out without first shredding the letters.

Tip 10:

Show some common sense and keep your power chords organised and well away from children etc. Not only is it a tripping and safety hazard, it also just looks messy and takes away from everything we have done so far.

Daily 6/1 - An Explanation

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

Light’s focus is varied, very much like your mind’s ability to focus. Let’s explain. A flashlight isn’t very focused. Therefore it splashes light over a wide area. On the other hand, a laser has a high range of focus and can direct light to a single point. In order to accomplish anything, you want to have laser-like focus.

A laser can cut through steel. There’s no doubt that it’s focused. If there is anything you want to accomplish and the goal is important to you, create a laser-like focus. You will be able to cut through anything.

How can you have laser focus with a million things to do?

We have a tool that was taught to us, and it’s been a very simple and effective what to organize our lives. We’ll share it with you, and if you struggle with organizing your ideas and action items, your life will never be simpler then when you apply this powerful tool.

Have you heard the story about the pail and the rocks? There are rocks, pebbles and sand and a pail. All three fit in the 1 gallon bucket, but it seems as though there is way too much to get in there.

We’ll use the big rocks to represent our dreams for our lives. Our goals, if you will. The pebbles are the tasks that get us to that goal, but in and of themselves don’t have a huge impact on our lives. The sand is the busy work that is necessary for us to get through life. It keeps us busy, but has no impact at all on our big picture dreams.

96% of the population chooses to get the “little things out of the way.” They start to fill their buckets with the sand. Then when they have time, the pebbles go in, and soon, they find that there’s no room for the rocks. They feel as though they’ve gotten a lot done. Look at all that sand and all those pebbles! But it’s the big rocks that are going to change their lives. They get left on the sidelines.

You may remember that when you start to fill your bucket with the big rocks, it “appears” filled to the brim. Lots of areas are yet to be filled with pebbles. However, the illusion of being full continues, but yet there’s room for the sand. There is always enough room. Always. It’s a seemingly impossible achievement, but when organized in the right order, everything fits, perfectly.

Very few people organize their lives in this way. You could probably guess who they are. The people whose lives you admire are probably on the list. Their focus is on the 6 things that will have the biggest impact on their lives. This is the key. Being organized like this is not impossible, it’s not even difficult.

Take the challenge of organizing in this way, and in 30 days your life won’t even look the same. All you have to do is prioritize the 6 things that would have the biggest impact on your life and set out to do them before anything else.

Here is the main point to organizing this way. If you pick six things your focus is already narrowed down. Once you identify those 6 items you turn up the energy and focus on the number one. Imagine this one goal is like a leaf, you are the magnifying glass, and the sun is your energy. How would you get through the leaf?

Place all of your focus and energy on a single purpose. The Daily 6/1 is that concept. Take 6 items, and focus on each of them one at a time. Once these items are complete, they’ll have the biggest impact on your life. The suns energy, when focused with the magnifying glass’ focus and the leaf disintegrates. Your energy, your focus, and the obstacles disintegrate. You’ve reached your goals.

For example, the six things (rocks) on my list are to get my master’s degree which I didn’t do in my 20s, start a new business, spend time with my family, write a book, lose weight, and meditate. And then there are my “pebbles” - donating to charities, volunteering, socializing, and finally “the sand;” paying bills, grocery shopping, cleaning the house. Get the idea?

Really, the bottom line is that I take a step, every day, towards my 6 items. I can work on my book. I can have lunch with my father, sister or friend. I can meditate for 5 minutes. I can even take 15 minutes to do a High Intensity workout. I can do one thing at a time, get them all done, and still be lucky enough to have time to go buy groceries, clean the house, or help out a friend. However, if I get caught up in cleaning the house and paying bills, I’ll never get to the calls I want to make to start my new business. However, making those calls will make a bigger impact on my life than cleaning the house ever will, and yet, why don’t I make it a priority? In the end, it doesn’t make sense, does it?

Get started with number 1 on your list. Do not think about number two; do not think about the sand or pebbles… just this one thing. Once you are done and it has been completed, simply move on to the next one giving no thought to any other task.

30 days later and your life won’t resemble what it does today all because of The Daily 6/1.

Techniques To Maximize The Use Of Your Time When Working

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

When it comes to work rate and efficiency, you will notice that you never stand on flat ground. There are times when it will take you forever to get a simple task done where as there are times when you will do it in a short time. What matters is output.

I in most cases spend a lot of time performing some chores. Actually, most of us do yet time is very precious.

Despite all the hard work, I have with time learnt how to be more efficient and in that sense more productive. This came by learning how to observe other people’s techniques around me. I have found these three tips that stood out.

1) Begin with the top most important work. Often people keep pushing forward important work and pretend to be busy by doing work that is less important. As a result, procrastination is being cultivated. You better deal with the important stuff and put it to rest.

2) You should not multi task important things. This will slow you down as much as you think that you are saving on time. Instead, set some time apart for each task. For example, if you select a certain hour as article writing time, you are not supposed to be catching up on your emails.

Once you have started giving dedicated time to certain jobs, you will find out that your work rate is really improving.

3) If you are trying hard and nothing seems to be happening during a task, take a breather. This will be able to help you clear your mind and come back to see things in a whole new perspective. This is very true if you are writing articles or doing some normally productive work.

These tricks will get you doing your work in the right time. You will no longer be fumbling in indecision.

Focus In The Workplace

Friday, December 31st, 2010

Keeping your mind and body focused on your work is not an easy thing to do especially if you are bothered with other issues aside from your job. Nevertheless, you can still find a way to change that and improve on your working habits so that you will be able to produce more and fast. Here is what you need to do to maintain a steady flow when working in the comfort of your home or in the office.

Before you start the day, make sure you have a list of tasks you need to accomplish. This will give you an idea of the things that need to be done first and the things that can afford a little delay. Having a to-do-list also allows you to keep track of what you have already finished and focus on what task is next in line.

After preparing your list of things to do, decide on what task you are going to work with first. I suggest you begin with the difficult ones first since they are surely to take most of your time. Doing them in the early morning when your brain is still alert and fresh will surely save you time and energy. You can work with the easy ones at the later part of the day.

As soon as you have determined what tasks to do first, give them your full attention, not letting anyone or anything stop you until you’re done with them. Sometimes, even the littlest of distraction can break your flow so do your best to let everyone know that you’re busy and that you want to finish your job without interruptions.

Take advantage of your break time and use it to have a power nap. The ideal power nap should last twenty minutes, enough time to boost up your brainpower. You need the energy to finish the remaining tasks for the day, so do not miss your opportunity to rest.

The most important secret to staying fastened to work is to love and enjoy what you are doing. That may sound difficult especially for people who do not have the choice but to be in a job they did not want to be in the first place. Nevertheless, when you learn how to enjoy your work, staying focused will just come naturally.

Tips To Prepare Well For Hectic Mornings

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010

Parents all over the world would agree with me, when I say that mornings are the most hectic time of the day for us. However, if you make some plans before time, I can assure you that you can save a lot of time, and still get everything done.

The best option can be to try and get some of the work done the night before. This can include washing dishes, preparing the lunch, taking out the uniforms and other clothes, etc. Also ensure that your kids get their stuff ready at night too.

Keep a stock of breakfast foods like yogurts and cereals, which will child, will enjoy eating, it will make them healthy and most of all, you will not have to waste any time in preparing them.

One more trick you can use, so as to save some time from your schedule is to keep the TV off in the morning. This will ensure that your children don’t waste time watching TV. They can be active in getting ready for school.

You can let your children watch TV, after they have prepared all their stuff and done everything to get ready for school.

Organizing everything would be the best option to be followed, since it would make the final process fast paced. You can separate all the items according to their priority or you can have each child’s stuff in the separate place.

Small things like hooks near the front door, to hang the school bags and jackets, would be wonderful to save time. Also, there can be small buckets, where each child can store his/her small belongings like ID cards, or locker keys, etc.

Advice For Parents On How To Prepare For A Busy Day

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

Mornings are considered to be the busiest time of the day for the parents. Apparently it might look that one can’t get all the things done in early hours but if some proper planning is done then the things would be far too manageable.

A simple example is that the receding night can be utilized to perform most of the tasks that can be done earlier like making lunch and laying the clothes out. Some responsibility falls on the children as well and they can do all the preparation for the school in the preceding night.

Having food items pre-stored in the pantries can also be a great time saving option for the parents. They can store certain food items that can have enough energy and can be prepared in a flash in the morning time. These may include the cereals, yogurt and the fruit items. All these things can be a part of a balanced breakfast.

Much of the time is wasted by the children by watching TV in the mornings so if they don’t sit for long in there then they can save a considerable amount of time for their preparation for school.

It depends on the parents if they want their children to allow watching TV after doing all the necessary things like cleaning their teeth, having breakfast and dressing up.

Having being organized is another key issue that can be of much importance in terms of saving time. If the children have a separate area containing all their stuff then it can save a lot of time.

For example hooks can be installed and baskets can be placed in the house for hanging jackets and storing keys and managing other similar and necessary stuff.

Relaxing can be a key as well because sometimes relaxing for a minute taking deep breaths and getting back your energy can help you do things in a quick manner and you can get through that time easily.
