Get Back To Work! Time Management Tips
Sunday, October 17th, 2010Everyone has a procrastinator inside of them. Sometimes this is not a bad thing. However for others still it can spell disaster and mean the difference between getting things done and not. If this is the type of person you are it’s most likely as easy as fixing your time management skills. Luckily, time management is a skill that anybody can develop. You just have to work hard at it and try not to let yourself get too distracted. Increase your productivity and focus with these helpful tips.
Now, sit and write out your goals list. Writing them with paper and pen and keeping the list somewhere nearby is always best but you can also type them up on the computer. This way, when you feel your focus start to wander, you can pull out the list and look at it. You will be able to remind yourself where you need to focus without spending too much time off task. You can make these goals as big or small as you want. Just write them down.
Begin each day by making a list of the things you need to accomplish before you go to bed that night. Then, once you have written everything down, put that list into an order of priority. All of your high priority items go up top and the low ones down below. You can now use this organized list as a “to do” list. You won’t find a better feeling than the one you will get when you toss that completed list in the garbage at the end of the day. Lists help save you from wondering what it is you are supposed to be doing next.
Draw up a schedule for yourself. Don’t schedule yourself down to the minute. You need to schedule in breaks and time to eat. With a schedule you can see when your tasks start and when it’s break time. Your stress levels will be greater with a detailed schedule. Trying to schedule your time down to the minute is great. Actually keeping that schedule is almost impossible. You should not try to over exert yourself.
Management skills offer you many options. The nice thing is that, no matter where you are starting now-getting organized and staying on task is eventually possible. You just have to create new habits. When it’s all said and done you’ll be a time management master never again losing time to day dreaming.
